Alaska — rate is by locality. Georgia — varies by county. Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon — no sales tax.
What's Taxable
Taxability depends on the state, the product, and the channel. The calculator already flags each line as Taxable or Exempt — this is the quick reference.
Blinds & draperies are taxable in most states that have a sales tax.
Shutters are exempt in many states (often treated as a real-property improvement).
Channel matters: Home Depot and the other channels (Decorview / Macy's / DirectBuy / JCPenney) are taxed differently in some states — pick the right channel in the calculator so the flags match.
Blended rate: when a job mixes taxable and exempt products (e.g. blinds + shutters), the calculator blends them into one rate for you — nothing to figure by hand.
Canada: province rates (GST/HST/PST) are applied automatically — no lookup needed. In BC, draperies are taxed higher than blinds and shutters.
